I don't know why a smiling face was put there but one of the canopy skirts I received has a bubble in it across where I need make a cut. I can push in on the bubble and see that there is a considerable air pocket. The smiling face must be some sort of quality control code.

Update 1/5/2007: This is an e-mail I received back from Vans:

I asked the guys in crating about this as I'd not seen it before.
Apparently, they drew it on to indicate it's OK. The bubble area sometimes appears on skirts as it's the place where the vacuum bagging extracts the air. If the fiberglass is broken there they reject it, but if it's just a bubble underneath it's OK.
