I have no idea how the instructions can be followed for this part. They say to let the upper cowl overhang the lower one and trace a line onto the part where they overlap on the lower cowl. This can't be done because there is no way to overlap the front part in the area of the inlet.
What I ended up doing was to trim a little at a time bringing it in closer each time. It was very time consuming. Using a Dremel with a thin cutoff wheel seemed to work very well. Thicker wheels seem to burn.
