I installed a GPS mount I fabricated to the firewall. After sanding I applied a second coat of epoxy/acetone mixture to the cowl using a paint brush. The last coat was still a little sticky so sanding it off was not easy. I think the reason for the last coat not fully curing was one or both of the following: the shop temperature was too low and I didn't give the epoxy/hardener mixture enough time to catalyze before adding the acetone thinner. This time I mixted the epoxy and hardener together for about 2 minutes and then added slightly less acetone than before. This time also I put heat lamps on the cowl and rotated it about once every 30 minutes. After a couple of hours I could tell that it was curing a lot better this time. |
