Yes I know this has not much to do with firewall forward. I'll move it to the right section someday (maybe). I cut the notches in the "forward spar" of each tank as per the plans. I used a cutoff wheel with a Dremmel tool. Christine helped me move the wings out of their cradle in preparation for the big move to the airport. This was one of the few times in the last year that this part of each wings has been accessible to do this job. I bonded the cowl fairings to to cowl. The second picture is supposed to show this but doesn't do so very well. I hated to drill through the cowl to hold the fairings in place while they cured but there wasn't any other way to do it. The fairing have to cure with the cowl hinged into position or it might cause the cowl to warp. The clecos are visible in the next two pictures. One of the last jobs in the garage was to paint a black stripe down both sides of the fuselage. At about 10pm Christine and I wheeled the fuselage into the driveway and then out into the front yard to get it turned around. We then wheeled it back into the garage. Earlier today I rented a 20' X 8' flatbed car trailer. It is sitting in the driveway ready for the big move to the airport tomorrow. |
