Yesterday I used a nibbler to rough cut the notch you see above in the aft bottom skin for the tail spring. Today I sanded it a little to smooth it out and then mounted the skin to the skeleton. I had to remove the bolt that holds the tail spring rod to the part that attaches to the bulkheads. It pushed the flange tab to where it interfered with the skin. I clecod the two match holes in the front middle and then drilled the middle holes for the middle and aft ribs. Then I removed the clecos and slid the forward bulkhead (F-809) into position and drilled the two middle holes. Then I tapped the rest of this bulkhead into position and drilled it. Then I did the same for the middle bulkhead, then along the longeron, then the rear bulkhead and then along the longeron again. I tool off all the clecos, remounted the tail spring and then put everything back together to make sure it fit. It did. Next project: landing gear boxes. |
