I have given up on the cool-the-air-compressor project. Having wired the fan to the on/off relay was a bad idea. When the compressor shuts off then fans stops so everything stays nice and warm because of my insulated box. When the air compressor fires back up it hasn't had a chance to cool so it does a over-temp shutdown after running for only about 20 seconds. I unplugged the fan from the switch and plugged it directly into an extension chord. Now it runs all the time but it is quiet and does the job.

I spent a while taking apart the large box that the fuselage came in. I kept the lid and bottom since they are perfect sizes to protect a couple of windows of my house for the upcoming hurricane season. I threw away the rest.

I wedged in the WD-822 weldment. It fit nice and tight against the lower longeron and just a tiny bit of looseness against the aux longeron. I tried clamping it tight but I couldn't find anything that worked. I did what I swore I wouldn't do anymore - I held it tight with one hand and drilled with another. Fortunately, it turned out nice.

Update:  It didn't turn out nice after all. See 3/7/2006.
