Christine and I made a lot of progress today. We riveted on the left rear skin. Again she drove the rivets while I bucked. In the picture at the top left, my head is a few inches away from the rivet gun. Again, the rivets around F-811 were a real pain. This time I couldn't use my long bucking bar with the really thin "foot". It wouldn't fit. I had to improvise wo I used the blade out of a hand planer and put a bucking bar right up against it. Very surprisingly, this worked. I then dimpled and countersunk the area of the skeleton where the cabin side skins will go. Then I dimpled the right skin with my squeezer and c-frame. I have been trying to decide for some time how I want to paint the cabin interior. Well, it is now decision time. I think I will build out the cabin and prime it and paint it when it is complete. Areas that are not visible (like the back sides of the floor panels and the area under the floor panels) will be primed with Aczo Nobel as before. |
