This last weekend I had the privilege to talk to my great uncle about propellers. He has worked on them from during WWII until about 15 years ago when he retired. After talking to him and having thought this through myself I do not believe a constant speed prop is worth the expense, weight and maintenance hassles for the type of flying I plan to do. The type of flying I plan to do is mostly burger runs, light aerobatics and an annual pilgrimage to Oshkosh. I also plan to do all of the maintenance myself so keeping things as simple as possible is important to me.

What this is leading up to is the battery location. Given that my engine/propeller combination should be fairly light, I have decided to put the battery up front on the firewall.

Today I primed the battery holder parts along with the arms rests and aft cabin covers. I put on 5 coats of Akzo Novel onto the battery holder parts to protect them as much as possible from battery acid.
