My canopy from Todd's came in today! It kills me to have to store this in the house because I am not ready for it yet. I have been very fortunate that every business dealing I have had in the course of this project has been outstanding but Todd's ranks as the best. I removed the WD-807 control column and reassembled the stick assemblies and front pushrod. I did this so that I could adjust the front pushrod where I could have easy access. I did this until both sticks were vertical and perpendicular. I then remounted WD-807 and the stick assemblies in the fuselage. I reassembled the bellcrank and rear pushrod because I forgot to install the really small "5702-75-060" washers called for in drawing 25. I couldn't find these pictured in any of my literature, catalogs or on the Internet. On the Internet I found several people describe them as little ones that are really hard to get into place. I found some that fit that description in the kit so I used them. I centered the bellcrank and adjusted the front part of the rear pushrod until the elevator was in its neutral position. I then adjusted the middle pushrod until the sticks were vertical and the elevator was in its neutral position. With this adjustment, the elevator hits the stop when the front stick is about 1/2" from bumping into F-802T. There isn't enough room for a hand gripping the top part of the stick and full down elevator. I need to get some advice on this. I assembled the rudder cables and temporarily attached them to the rudder pedal assembly. I then drilled the rudder stops into position. After looking them over I think it was a mistake to have done this. I build the stops as per drawing 27 but the 1/4" TYP. dimension should have clued me in to not making this cut until it is fitted. The stops are set too far aft and are not flush with the rudder control horn when the rudder is deflected all the way. I need to make a couple more stops. |
