I cut about 1/4" from the left flap actuator rod. The plans were right. After about 1-1/2 years of working on this I have become really paranoid when I see "ref" next to a measurement.
I cut and threaded the right rod and had to do enlarge the hole in the fuselage. Note from the pictures above how the rod is almost in contact with the skin when the flaps are retracted. Allowing the rod to rub is a no-no since eventually the rod will wear through and one flap will suddenly retract (probably on short final).
