Again first thing this morning I painted the ailerons. I only had enough paint for one coat. Some gray is just barely visible in some areas but it might qualify as good enough. I don't know. I might sand it and add another coat when I paint the wings. The finish turned out really well. A lot better than I expected given my complete lack of experience. The flaps and ailerons look like they are off a new Cessna.

While painting I noticed a run start to form. When I finished painting I cut the strings holding the aileron and then inverted it to make the run go back the other way. It worked and I can no longer see the run but I think the risk of doing is great. Moving around a large piece like this with fresh paint without letting it touch anything isn't easy.

OK. Now I am back on the fuselage.

Tonight I made the bracket for attaching the strobe power supply. I chose to mount it in front of the bulkhead next to the elevator bellcrank  because I thought it was the best compromise minimizing its impact on weight and balance and keeping it away from components it might electrically interfere with.

I don't know if you can tell from this picture but I have angles along the top and bottom longerons and a 1/16" plate between them. I tried to follow the example in AC-43 as closely as possible. The top angle has a notch it it to clear a nut plate. I chose to use a fairly wide plate to allow for better dissipate heat.

I think I am going to have to mount the ELT behind this bulkhead. The ELT is very light and the coax that came with it doesn't allow it to be mounted further forward if I am going to hide the antenna behind the empennage fairing.

I haven't decided where to mount the remote magnetic sensor for the EFIS. I do plan to route its wires separately from the strobe and its wires. I don't know if interference from the strobe would be an issue but since my RV8 is not a science project I don't feel compelled to investigate this.
