Today Christine and I took the big plunge and riveted the top rear skin. I had the honor of crawling my fat self most of the way into the fuselage to buck rivets. Actually, it wasn't as bad as it sounds. I had the fuselage more or less level so that I wouldn't slide down to the tail cone every time I moved. I also riveted both end ribs from the outside as well as about 2 feet of longeron rivets in the front and about 1 in the back. I also had a fan perched on the spar pointed toward the rear. The whole operation took about 3 hours mainly because Christine goes fast and does a great job. Christine took the pictures below of me inside the tail section. |
