I was camera happy tonight. I riveted the baggage door together and installed it in the fuselage. Then I taped and strapped it down to the fuselage to keep it as flush as possible. Hopefully this wasn't a mistake but I opted to drill the holes that go between the top angle, inside skin and side ribs to hold the inside skin in position. I removed the rudder pedals, seat ramp and put cushions on top of the pointy parts and crawled into the fuselage. I match drilled as many of the holes for the inside skin as I could reach. These included almost all of the aft holes and about 3/4 of the ones in front. I removed the door and drilled the rest of the holes. I then cut a holesquare for the lock. I drilled a hole, Unibited it to close to the final size and then filed it to fit the lock. I then found out that I don't have enough AT6-058 5/16 tubing to do both door pins. Why don't I have enough? Did I use it somewhere where I shouldn't have? Did I use it on the fuel lines??!!! Panic. I inspected all of the lines and made sure this wasn't the case. I know the same stuff was used on the flap pushrods. Maybe I was wasteful. Anyway, I placed another order with Vans and I now need to shelve the door for another 3-4 days. |
