Today at work they let us loose after lunch since it is the Labor Day weekend. Christine and Caroline were at Christine's parents' house. Kind of spooky being at home alone. It doesn't happen often. I had received the replacement inboard spar from Van';s yesterday so I went ahead and fluted, drilled, deburred, dimpled and primed it. I then riveted it and the other ribs to the skin. I then went for another late afternoon tail dragger lesson. This time my instructor Gary signed me off to fly tail draggers. Yipee! I have been taking lessons with him in a Citabria at Windsock Aviation at Weiser Airpark. It feels like I have done about 1000 touch and go's. I am even almost getting comfortable with the Citabria's squirrelly heel brakes. I was pumped when I made it home so I decided to cut out the landing light hole in the leading edge. I used a die grinder and made the cut about 1/8" inside of the line on the template. I then smoothed it out and brought the edge to the line using my Scotch Brite wheel. It turned out really well. |
