Busy day. I started by deburring the outer upper skin. Then I dimpled
it, the upper inner skin and the doubler plate that goes under the
walkway. Above is a picture of me using the squeezer to dimple the
outside holes.

The pictures above are of me using the c-frame to dimple the inside
holes. I have tried a mallet and a ball-peen hammer and the hammer does
a much better job. The mallet results in a slight wavey look in the skin
whereas the hammer does not.
I then acid etched and Alodined the skins, blew them dry. I let them sit
for about an hour to make sure they were dry and then primed whatever
parts would never see daylight with Aczo Nobel. After watching the US
Open tennis match and taking the kids on a bike trip, Christine and I
riveted the upper inside skin to the frame.
I'll be glad when I can finally take the wing off the "jig". |
